Who We Are: The Montreal Duo Behind Aba and Preach
If you've ever lost an evening to a stack of reaction videos, there's a good chance we were in it. But who are the two voices behind the channel, and how did it start? Here's a quick guide for new viewers and longtime viewers alike.
Who are Aba and Preach?
We're Aba Atlas and Erich "Preach" Étienne, and Aba and Preach is our commentary and reaction channel. We're from Montreal, Canada, and we built the channel on one simple idea: watch something, then say exactly what we think about it. Taboos, culture, social issues and whatever the internet is arguing about this week all end up on our couch.
How did the channel start?
The channel goes back to 2012. Its very first video was a vlog by Aba titled Dear Mother. The next one, Aba on heightism, became the channel's most viewed video. From there we kept reacting, debating and laughing, and a big community grew around our straight-talking style.
What else do we do?
The podcast. On the Aba & Preach Podcast, the two of us and our collaborator Wassim talk through all kinds of subjects in the same real-talk, unapologetic tone.
Live shows. We also take our humour to the stage, where the back-and-forth works just as well in front of a crowd as it does on camera.
